A Bit About Me

Salah Malkawi is a professional photojournalist based in Amman, Jordan, covering news across the Middle East. He was a contracted contributor to Getty Images for more than 20 years and has lately joined AlMamlaka TV website working on news, features, and photo essays. 

As a freelance photojournalist, Salah has worked on assignments from around the Middle East for publications that include the New York Times, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, and many more. He has witnessed and covered a variety of top news in Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Russia, and more. Salah also regularly provides images for a number of government and non-governmental institutions such as the European Union and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), UN, UNICEF, World Food Programme (WFP), and others.

Salah has offered professional photography/photojournalism assistance and training to young journalists through programs funded by the United Nations Development Program and the European Union. 

 

He reads and speaks fluently English, Greek, and Arabic.
